Obsolete Reasons for Introduction
This is the third of the three full-year multimedia studio units which are a compulsory component of the Bachelor of Multimedia. This unit aims to show how the theoretical base for multimedia systems established in the other core subjects is expressed in system development practice. The subject aims to build on the students' knowledge of basic concepts from previous years, by introducing them to more advanced tools for multimedia systems, and developing further their understanding of the multimedia development process and the tools and techniques used to manage and control it. The subject content will be integrated closely with that of the other core units in the degree program.The proposed change from a full year unit to a semester 2 offering reflects the learning of the unit coordinators over the last three years. The proposal moves the unit from an articifially drawn-out 9 month long development process to a more intensively immersive process for the students engaged in the development process. This is consistent with the modification of the level 1 and 2 studios from year long to semester long activities as well.
