Reasons for Introduction

Obsolete Reasons for Introduction

This revised unit is a core unit in the Bachelor of Information Systems (Information Management). It is part of the librarianship stream of units required for ALIA recognition. It is in line with the School's objectives and is consistent with the demands of the information industry for graduates able to demonstrate understanding of information communities (also called virtual communities) and how these operate as markets for information content including multimedia content. The unit fulfils a need for exploration of theory and practical examples of critical success factors in the development of information products and services. The insights gained are translated into practical competencies required for information enterprise i.e. recognising information needs and opportunities, and organising responses to these which are appropriate, creative, and financially viable. This unit is taught in conjunction with IMS5023, but has a different assessment structure.

The initial MonAtar entry was derived from the handbook entry. The changes made to the MonAtar entry reflect completion of all MonAtar fields based on the current unit outline, and the changes made to IMS5023 which it is taught in conjunction with.
