Obsolete Reasons for Introduction
This new unit is a core first year unit in the revised structure for the Bachelor of Information Systems. It incorporates parts of the content of IMS1000 in the current structure of the BIS, but has a stronger focus on the development issues relating to information systems projects rather than the current focus on programming fundamentals. It places particular emphasis on cross-development lifecycle activities such as project management, professional communication and quality.Students often have difficulties understanding how their program of study is integrated. They frequently do not grasp how units relate to each other, and are unable to synthesise what they see as fragmented units of study into an overall understanding of a body of knowledge. The Studio provides both an environment and a series of units that allow for the integration of materials from other units in the degree, enhances understanding of key concepts in information management and information systems, challenges students with specific application of new skills and extends students knowledge by introducing them to new material.
