Obsolete Reasons for Introduction
This is a core subject for the Bachelor of Information Management and Systems (2358). It renames SYS1002 which replaced core subjects in the Bachelor of Information Systems (1545) and the IS major and minor streams in the Bachelor of Computing (0961). In subject sequence for the 1545 and 0961 degrees this subject replaced SYS1252 and in content it replaced parts of SYS1252 and SYS2168 which have subsequently been disestablished. It is the second subject in the sequence commencing with IMS1001 and leads into IMS2001, building on the knowledge, skills, understandings and attitudes in the former subject and laying foundations for the latter. The subject focusses on the system development process and the role which the systems analyst performs within it. The subject gives students a clear view of the systems development process in its entirety before introducing several detailed analysis and design techniques. These techniques prepare the students with the knowledge, understandings and skills to undertake further detailed techniques in the subsequent subject.
