FEC 4/04 The change is mainly in terms of adding Personal Software Process and also detailed discussion on Capability Maturity Model that are very relevant to the present day industry. Thus, this unit has additional content in relation to the undergraduate unit GCO3807.
As well as this the unit is to be offered in Summer A 2005. This unit is replaced by FIT5022 and this unit will be disestablished.
The role of this unit is to supplement the students' skills in design, coding etc with the project management skills so that students can effectively participate in projects when they start working in an industry. In case of Business students, opportunities are created for them to obtain IT project management skills so that they can apply the same when they start on a career.
GCO5807 is a prohibited combination with project management units taught by the School of Business Systems and the School of Multimedia Systems.
One of the objectives of the Master of Information Technology/Master of Business Systems is "to provide students with an understanding of techniques for planning and managing the implementation of IT solutions to organisational problems, as well as the ability to use these techniques". Project Management directly addresses aspects of this objective for all students in the program.

The final mark will be calculated using a weighting formula which ensures that a student must perform reasonably on the examination and the assignments overall in order to achieve a passing grade: final grade = (R*A*E)/((R-1)*A+E) where A = overall assignment percentage E = examination percentage R = 100/assignment weighting
