This is an existing core unit in the honours program of Bachelor of Information Technology. Students interested in pursuing higher degrees can undertake the one year of honours program. The unit will develop the ability of the students to to develop skills required to read understand and explain technical informtion in research publications. This proposal completes the unit's Avatar entry.

This is a 6 cp core unit which a student undertakes after the student has completed a 3 year Bachelor of Information Technology. It trains the students to become familiar with presentation and publication standards, including on-line publication. Students also read and discuss a series of research papers or extracts from research areas.

This is an existing unit for the honours program. It existed prior to Avatar was created and hence was not entered in Avatar. The purpose is to update the avatar entry.

It is a core unit and is compulsory for all students undertaking honours program at Gippsland School of Computing and Information Technology. The students on completion of the honours program become eligible to continue for higher degrees by research (Masters program or Doctoral program)

This unit builds on knowledge and understanding developed in Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) program . Students will:

1. understand all stages of the process of developing research methologies;
2. understand how research activities are developed leading to research publication
