GCO3813 UNIX Systems Programming [USP]

Reasons for Introduction

Obsolete Reasons for Introduction

This unit has been running for many years as an elective for students in the Bachelor of Computing at Gippsland. Because of changes in other units (most notably the replacement of GCO2814 with GCO3818) GCO3813's prerequisite units were recently updated and the unit was moved from first to second semester to make it possible for students to obtain the necessary corequisite in time.At FEC 5/02 the Graduate Diploma of Computing at Gippsland was reorganised to ensure that students complete 3 third level computing units. To enable these students to also take GCO3813 as an elective, it is proposed to add an extra alternative prerequisite from this course. To permit GSCIT to continue teaching this unit that usually has smaller enrolments (generally about 50 per semester), it is also proposed that the unit be offered every other year, with the next offering being 2004.

18 Sep 2002 Kim Styles This proposal is to apply prerequisites that will permit students in the Graduate Diploma of Computing at Gippsland to take Software Engineering as an elective.
