FIT9028 Flash animation and applications - disestablished (30 Nov 2017, 2:28pm) [FLASH ANIM AND APPS (13 Aug 2010, 11:44am)]

Reasons for Introduction

Reasons for Introduction (14 May 2007, 12:11pm)

This unit is an FIT coded version of MMS9402. MMS9402 will be disestablished and replaced by FIT9028.

Reasons for Change (30 Nov 2017, 2:29pm)

15/3/13 Moving to a flipped classroom format therefore needed to change the delivery format from 2 hr lecture and 2hr lab to 1hr lecture and 3hr lab for implementation in Semester 1 2013.

This unit has been amended to align it with changes, including name made to FIT2012 as a consequence of the FIT undergraduate degree update. In addition a formal request has been put in by Jeff Janet and the Faculty of Art and Design, for whom this unit is service taught, to change the assessment to in semester studio mode assessment to more closely align the assessment to the Art and Design standard approach.

22 Jan 2014 - Change to contact hours made to align with Handbook entry (bulk upload from CUPID extract). Approved by ADE.

24 Feb 2014 - Modified unit objectives to learning outcomes to comply with AQF requirements. Semester 2, 2014 implementation.

9 Mar 2015 - Modified prohibitions to restrict FIT students from enrolling in unit as approved at GPC 1/15, Item 7.7.

30/11/2017 - Unit disestablished at FEC 5/17 Item 7.3.

Role, Relationship and Relevance of Unit (18 Nov 2009, 1:09pm)

The unit will further develop the basic concepts of information technology and the fundamental software used for creating interactive digital content. Skills and knowledge learned from the Website Authoring unit will be further developed and students will be exposed to the skills, techniques and theory dedicated to digital media authoring for application to multimedia systems, with a specific focus on web and CD-ROM based media.

This unit forms a foundation for students to develop their digital multimedia authoring skills focusing specifically on web and CD-ROM based media. Students will find the content of this unit useful for their final year studio project/s.

This unit is also delivered as a service taught unit into the Faculty of Art and Designs Master of Multimedia. The unit is also available as an open postgraduate elective.

Objectives

Objectives (24 Feb 2014, 12:53am)

On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • identify and apply the formal processes undertaken for preparing and documenting the design specification and prototype development stages of a multimedia application
  • construct a functional interactive project given a specific brief using a graphical authoring environment (eg: Adobe Flash CS6)
  • identify, design and develop appropriate assets for the creation of a functional user interface using an appropriate navigational structure
  • execute a range of special effects which are commonly required for interactive design in multimedia applications (eg: animation, visual and audio feedback, etc.)
  • demonstrate intermediate programming techniques using the required authoring language (eg: ActionScript 3.0) using a procedural approach to programming development
  • identify, interpret and explain the nature of technical issues that are encountered during the development and testing of a multimedia application
