Reasons for Introduction

Obsolete Reasons for Introduction

The Faculty of Information Technology strategic plan and University plans call for increased industry engagement and the development of graduate attributes desirable in IT industry professionals. Although the Faculty offers a number of units that assist in developing these attributes such as industrial experience, case study, and external project units, only one of the undergraduate courses currently offered by the Faculty, has an industry based learning (industry internship) component. The Faculty wishes to extend this option to all of its undergraduate students. The unit therefore fills a gap in the current unit offerings, allowing students from any undergraduate course offered by the Faculty of Information Technology to gain academic credit for appropriately structured activities forming part of an industry internship.
