Role, Relationship and Relevance of Unit (27 Nov 2009, 2:11pm)

This unit (and its counterpart Studio 1) aims to build on the students' knowledge of basic concepts from previous years, by introducing them to more advanced tools for multimedia systems and games development. It also aims to further develop students' understanding of the multimedia and games development processes and the tools and techniques used to manage and control it.

The sequence content will be integrated closely with that of the other core units in the degree programs. This second unit concentrates on the systems development phase and the delivery of the final product/game and thus completes the overall project development process This unit allows students to demonstrate the skills that they have gained in FIT1012, FIT2012, FIT2015, FIT2016, FIT2026 and /or FIT2049 in a large scale multimedia or games project.

    Synopsis (27 Nov 2009, 2:16pm)

Students will work actively in teams on the development of a multimedia or games application or exhibit. Using project planning/management skills along with other development procedures, students must then deliver a functional multimedia system or game, along with all requisite documentation, which integrates multimedia, programming, and technical knowledge in the development process. Requirements are fulfilled by the team producing an identified set of deliverables, usually a progress report, full system documentation, and functional project. The team must ensure that each deliverable is completed on schedule, with each member of the team demonstrating a significant contribution to the overall effort.

Prescribed Reading (for new units) (18 Sep 2020, 12:11pm)

There are no specific software requirements for this unit due to the varying nature of the projects chosen. After choosing your project you will be required to use the most appropriate development software.
