This unit provides foundation studies for the Master of Business Information Systems (MBIS) beginning in 2014. The unit serves a similar role to FIT9006 within the previous version of the MBIS suite of degrees.

This is a foundation unit for the Master of Business Information Systems (MBIS) suite of degrees. The unit is intended for students without prior cognate knowledge to enable them to adequately study the core units of the MBIS.
The unit provides a basic introduction to fundamental information systems concepts including:
In particular, the unit provides the necessary background to undertake the core FIT5133 Enterprise Architectures and Management unit.
The unit is similar in content and performs a similar role to the existing FIT9006 Information Technology Management unit within the former MBIS.
On successful completion of this unit, students should be able to:

The unit provides a basic introduction to fundamental information systems concepts including basic business concepts, information technology strategy and governance, sourcing, the different kinds of IT systems at both enterprise and desktop scales, introduction to architectures and professional practice and introductory project management.
