Role, Relationship and Relevance of Unit (29 Oct 2009, 6:13pm)

This unit is an undergraduate version of FIT9004. It complements FIT2067, FIT3128 and FIT3129 in providing foundation studies in the IT disciplines for non-FIT students.

This introductory unit supports the other FIT service teaching foundation units and other units which include programming and spreadsheet modelling. Understanding of computer programming is fundamental to an awareness and success in the IT disciplines.

This unit provides an introduction to the principles and practice of programming for business applications. This includes an overview of spreadsheet modelling and a detailed introduction to programming with Excel including general programming concepts, the syntax and semantics of a current business programming language, design and development of graphical user interfaces.
