The subject will have a 2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of tutorial/lab per week for one semester. The tutorial/lab works will emphasise problems/hands-on exercises in cryptography, digital signatures, wrappers, email security, ftp server protection, web server protection, production server protection, and related areas.
The lecture stream will present the conceptual and theoretical aspects of information and network security, addressing all the objectives. The tutorial sessions will enhance the students' understanding of the subject material through analysing, implementing and assessing specific mechanisms and/or algorithms employed in the discipline, further addressing the objectives.
Assignments/Unit test 40%, Exam 60%.
The unit test and the final exam will assess the students' understanding of the conceptual and theoretical aspects of information and network security, addressing all the objectives. The practical assignments will assess the students' understanding of the material through analysing, implementing and assessing specific mechanisms and/or algorithms employed in the discipline, further addressing the objectives.
