Reasons for Introduction

Obsolete Reasons for Introduction

This unit was developed from an older unit called "CSC3080 Software Engineering 2", which contained 2 topics of equal weight: Formal Specification using Z, and Introduction to Object Oriented Programming, using Eiffel. When the unit was converted to a 6CP unit around 1998, the Formal Specification material was dropped, and the OO language changed to C++. It was thought that students needed the extra time to cope with the complexities of C++ in comparison to Eiffel (sic transit gloria mundi).
