Obsolete Reasons for Introduction
This unit is undergoing a major review and approval in response to a major review of the course of which it is core. In turn the course review was triggered by a major Faculty re-structure and to remove 8 and four point units. The School of Computer Science and Software Engineering is a new merger of four previous departments. The unit code is being changed to better reflect the source of the unit. The School of Computer Science and Software Engineering focuses on the technical issues of Information Technology. This unit begins a four unit sequence in the B Comp degree, in this sequence students study the underlying technologies of computing. The units are industrially focussed, students study the existing commercial computer systems and supporting software in this sequence. The unit supports the course objects related to industrial application and in relation to the technology focused objectives. It replaces an existing unit in the course core, COT1130 Computer Equipment.
