BUS5112 is an existing unit taught as elective in the Master of Business Systems and a core unit in the new Master of Business Systems Professional. Computer networks are ubiquitous. It is essential that students entering administration and management in the business workforce should have a comprehensive grasp of all aspects of these networks, including design and installation issues, and the associated hardware and software.
This unit will be taught with FIT9005 until it is disestablished.
Added FIT9005 as a prohibition.

The School of Business Systems requests approval to add a semester 1 offering for BUS5112 (commencing 2004).
Lectures: 2 hours per week Practical classes/Tutorials : 2 hours per week Private study (revision, homework and practical class preparation): 8 hours per week
Assignments: 30% Exam: 70%
For exam: 10 minutes reading time and 3 hours exam time
The formal exam and assignments components will assess understanding of all the learning objectives as presented in Lectures, while assignments and assessable Lab work will test practical skills and application of concepts associated with objectives. Practical skills and the application of concepts will be assessed using a case study approach.
Students should expect to spend an average of 12 hours per week for 13 weeks on this unit. The breakdown of the workload is as follows:
