Reasons for Introduction

Reasons for Introduction (09 Feb 2007, 3:43pm)

The Curriculum Committee of the Bachelor of Business Systems requires the degree's graduates to possess solid business modelling skills. BUS1110 constitutes an introduction to business modelling for Business Systems undergraduates. Computer modelling skills constitute one of core competencies for a business analyst. It is therefore entirely appropriate that these skills be taught in a first year foundation subject. This subject provides the basis for all the subjects of business modelling/business analysis block within the Bachelor of Business Systems degree. A review of the degree by its IBL (Industry Based Learning) sponsors has suggested that the subject should have strong business and analytic components. Utilizing spreadsheet modelling environments provides the students with the necessary background knowledge that is later expanded in more focused and technically specific subjects.

Reasons for Change (09 Feb 2007, 3:57pm)

This unit will be taught with FIT2017 until it is disestablished.

Add FIT2017 to prohibitions.

The School of Business Systems requests approval to change the lab session time from 2 hours to one hour after feedback from students and staff over the previous year has indicated that 2 hour labs are an ineffective use of teaching resources. The School of Business Systems requests approval to increase the duration of laboratory sessions from one to two hours per week (effective semester 2 2003) and to change the assessment weighting from 80%/20% (exam/assignments) to 60% exam, 25% assignments, 15% tests (also effective semester 2, 2003). Also a minor administrative change to the unit prohibitions (changing ETF2481 to ETF2480).
